OTHER CHARACTER(S) IN GAME: Jolyne and Kisara
CANON INFORMATION
CHARACTER NAME: Android 18
CANON: Dragon Ball Z/Super
HISTORY: Here
STRENGTHS: Cool and confident
Her personality always seems to reflect this, taking things even-headedly and acting cooly towards those she doesn't know or in a fighting situation. This tends to work as an intimidation tactic when necessary and also tends to put comrades more at ease around her in a fighting situation. Mostly because she doesn't seem particularly worried about whatever is going on and is keeping an eye on things and analyzing what's going on instead of letting emotions and tense situations get to her.
Commanding
This works both as a strength and as a flaw for her as, in the strength sense, it's something that she uses to push and motivate those around her, even if it's for what seems like unimportant things. This is mostly and usually directed towards her brother and husband, but it does seem to work despite the ridiculous premise around it. She wants them to get better and putting a reason behind it seems to motivate better than just vague gestures.
Loyal
One of the most striking things about her is her loyalty to her family, first shown with her brother and how she'd easily fight for him and with him no matter the situation. Later on it's shown with her husband and also her daughter in order to keep them safe and to make sure that there's no one or nothing around that will harm them or take advantage of the situation. These more motherly instincts also extend towards other children and also to close friends of the family as well.
FLAWS:
Aloof
Outside of her family and some close friends, 18 comes off as being aloof and not interested or caring about the situation or people around them. This isn't remotely the case as she'd be out there fighting for the world just as well as the other fighters around her, she just isn't quite sure how to act around those she isn't close to. Or, well, the nature of being a cyborg seemed to temper a lot of her expression of personality to the general public.
Commanding
On the flaw side of things this comes across as her being very fixated on the physical side of possessions, using her commanding nature to push her husband and brother into tournaments and the such in order to help the family. This also is shown a good number of times when there's prize money of any nature shown and pushing herself and her family into working towards that. It's not really necessary but she thinks it is. This is probably more due to her upbringing than anything else.
Sarcasm
Sometimes something that's meant in jest will come across as more serious and ill-timed, this has gotten better over time but it still shows up from time to time. It's hard to tell what is and isn't a joke with her a good chunk of the time due to her voice tending to be so dry and level, though her resorting to sarcasm as her form of humor certainly doesn't help it, either. This tends to make situations a lot more awkward or coming across as having meant a joke that's more on the rude side of things.
CANON ABILITIES: Power and abilities
AU INFORMATION
AU CHARACTER NAME: Android 18, though also might use Lazuli depending
AGE: Appears in her early adulthood, is actually 33.
POSITION:How Not To Become A Cyborg Ki Control
AU BACKSTORY: Literally not that much deviation from canon, except that there was some... stranger things going on.
- Two street urchin children from a cold climate of some sort (exact location is... unknown, mostly) get abducted by a crazy mad scientist mage who promises them food and shelter
- Get turned into cyborgs via magictek
- Are considered failures as they don't remotely listen to him the first time and are put back under
- Are woken up three-ish years later by same dumb-ass doctor using them as a last resort against a group of hunters/heroes/whatever they're going to be called trying to take him out
- 18's brother kills the dude by taking his head off, surprise he made himself into an android with the doctor's brain in a case on the head
- Kind of go on a spree of being absolute fucking idiots by destroying shit, kinda killing people, beating the shit out of some of those hunters
- Some weird-ass Outland/science hybrid bug man shows up, absorbs them to take their power. Don't ask, it just works
- Shit happens, heroes/hunters take out bug man
- 18 and her brother kinda brought back from the dead more or less
- What the actual fuck
- She ends up marrying one of the hunters a couple of years later and they have a kiddo
- Gets a whiff of being able to help people and husband kinda just decides to stay home with the kiddo
- Travels back and forth when she can to be with her family dammit
AU PERSONALITY DEVIATION: There's really no deviation to speak of, honestly?
RACE: Cyborg
SECRET SOCIETY: N/A
POWERS: Uh, well, this isn't going to be much different. So more or less, due to being a cyborg, 18 has unlimited energy to an extent. She doesn't need to eat, but needs to drink, in order to survive. Thus her abilities stem from using her energy, or ki, to focus on whatever she needs to do.
Which tends to be used for things like flying and also focusing her energy into ridiculous things like energy blasts of different types. That's... mostly it. She also has a fighting style that's closely related to what could be called street fighting, scrappy and ridiculous. I can get more specific if the mods would like for me to, but it's all just different kinds of energy blasts using her ki energy, though nothing that can be Earth destroying, maybe a mountain at most.
HOUSING: On-campus, though travels off campus occasionally.
RP SAMPLE
INTERVIEW SAMPLE PROMPT
(The following scenario is available to all characters who are apping in and is considered canon - all prospective teachers for the academy are interviewed by staff members to ensure they're a good fit. The definition of "good fit" seems to vary wildly from staffer to staffer.)
2. TELL US ABOUT YOUR TEACHING EXPERIENCE. I may not have formal experience with it in a school setting, but I have helped to teach back home with my husband. Primarily in meditation techniques along with teaching them how to understand and control ki for various purposes.
3. WHAT UNIQUE PERSPECTIVES DO YOU THINK YOU BRING TO THE ACADEMY? Given the things that I have been through along with the group I've ended up a part of, I believe that there's not many others that have had similar experiences. Cyborgs and androids may be far more of a commodity these days, but I doubt the threats and enemies I have seen since being awoken have been as similar.
5. DESCRIBE YOUR COMMUNICATION STYLE AND HOW YOU INTERACT WITH COWORKERS. I... tend to be blunt and not overly wordy with my communication. There's no reason to add fluff when all the substance is already there, and it wastes their time as well as mine. I just want the facts.
6. HOW DO YOU ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO PUSH THEMSELVES AND TAKE THEIR SCHOOLWORK SERIOUSLY? At the end of the day, they're going to be one of the last lines of defense that the world has. Whether a particular class seems relevant or not, it can all be tied into that one way or another. And, when we survive this, they do need to have a backbone of education to continue into the world as normal, no?
7. HOW DO YOU MANAGE STUDENTS WHO ARE DEFIANT OR ACTING OUT? I was there, I was very much there as a child. There's always a root cause as to what is causing them to act out, it's simply a matter of finding it and working through whatever that cause may be to put them straight on their paths again.
9. WHAT, IN YOUR OPINION, IS THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON TO TEACH EVERY STUDENT WHO WALKS THROUGH OUR DOORS? That there's strength in those around you, that you don't have to do everything by yourself. There's strength inside of yourself, but to truly use it and unlock your full potential, you need to rely on those around you as well. We can accomplish so much more together than separate.
12. DESCRIBE A NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE WITH A COWORKER AND HOW YOU HANDLED IT. Co-worker might be putting it a little generously, but there's been a few people I've had some... experiences with. Primarily those who I might have previously harmed before, but the way to get around that with most of them was to show that I was there to help and that my motivations had changed along with my own person. Or, alternatively, there's a lot to be said when a "co-worker" can be motivated into a positive experience by punching whatever enemy is running their mouth this time.
... I never did claim some of them weren't rather simple in motivations, did I?
14. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY ARE YOUR GREATEST TEACHING STRENGTHS? Experience, I suppose. I've been through a lot in my life, both before and after becoming what I am now and I've also learned quite a lot more about teaching than I ever thought I would after having a child, as well.
There's no experience quite like practical, I suppose.
16. ONE OF THE REQUIREMENTS OF ACADEMY FACULTY IS PROTECTING STUDENTS FROM THAT WHICH MIGHT DO THEM HARM. TELL US HOW EQUIPPED YOU ARE TO DO THIS. I was literally made into a cyborg to fight, I think I'm more than naturally capable enough in that regard. But I also put my neck on the line for various other issues of taking down whatever tries to threaten innocent people on a day to day basis.
I certainly won't be suddenly deciding to stop helping just because I'm here.
17. WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO SACRIFICE FOR YOUR STUDENTS? As I've said before, I already put my neck out there on what feels like a daily basis. It will not change here, I'm far more durable than humans tend to be and if I need to put my life out on the line to keep innocents and our future safe, then I am more than capable of doing so. No questions asked.
